This is one of my favorite things that we do each year during our Advent season. We are a military family, and the local commissary (grocery store on post), has brown paper bags at each register. Each year we grab a few for the boys and allow them to take time to decorate them before we fill them up to take to the local homeless shelter. We do the traditional groceries, but we also throw in a few fun things and a treat of some sort. We try to teach the kids about giving and being grateful all year, but there is something special about being able to give extra in the Christmas season. So, I would encourage you to do a little more this holiday if you can. Trust me, you won't be sorry that you did.
